Industrial Measurements business area serves a wide range of industries and applications ranging from pharmaceutical to food industries, and from warehouses to power transformers. It offers a broad range of accurate and reliable measurement instruments based on the cutting-edge technology to help our customers optimize their processes, improve efficiency, minimize energy consumption, and ensure the high quality of their end-products.
What's your role?
You will join our Power Sales team, a group of dedicated and experienced professionals at Vaisala. In this role, you will lead initiatives to deepen market penetration in the power and utility sectors across Mainland China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. Your responsibilities will include developing and implementing strategic sales plans to expand Vaisala's footprint in these regions. You'll collaborate closely with both local and international stakeholders, including marketing teams and product managers. Reporting to the Country Director of Vaisala Industrial Measurements (VIM), China, your work will be crucial in driving our growth and enhancing our presence in the energy market.
Strategic Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a growth strategy for the China Power sales team, ensuring sustainable achievement of business targets.
- Cultivate strategic partnerships with key customer accounts alongside the power sales team.
- Coordinate and innovate local sales and marketing initiatives that align with global Vaisala strategies, leveraging both the in-house power team and external distributors or agents.
- Champion the promotion of Vaisala’s Power monitoring products through proactive customer engagement, participation in industry exhibitions, customer seminars, and other sales-generating activities.
- Drive the acquisition of new clients and conversion of leads into sales opportunities, ultimately leading successful deal closures.
- Lead the preparation of quotes and tenders, steer critical sales negotiations, and spearhead the closure of deals while adhering to Vaisala's structured sales processes.
- Oversee budgeting, action planning, and sales forecasting for the team while continually refining the sales funnel through diligent CRM updates.
- Enhance distributor and agent network effectiveness through strategic agreement execution and performance assessments.
- Synthesize market intelligence regarding customers, applications, and competitors to tailor market-specific strategies.
Collaborative and Developmental Duties
- Collaborate closely with the Power product area team to align sales strategies and product offerings.
- Provide market insights to support the positioning of new products and pricing strategies, including organizing preliminary customer visits to gauge market reception.
- Manage demonstration units for customer evaluation and track product performance feedback.

- Excellent negotiation and analytical skills, coupled with a deep understanding of the power industry’s trends and challenges.
- Technical expertise in power online monitoring and the ability to manage complex sales projects.
- Proven sales, marketing, and negotiation prowess with a keen strategic and analytical mindset.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities with experience managing a team and driving sales within the power sector, particularly with SGCC, CSG, and various power generation groups.
- Proficient in English and other relevant languages, with excellent communication and networking skills to navigate complex sales processes involving multiple stakeholders.
- Educational background in a relevant field, such as a Master of Science in Power Industry.
- Extensive experience (5-10 years) in sales within the power industry, including specific experience with transformer online monitoring sales (3-5 years).
