Our subsidiary Vaisala France SAS, located in Saclay is the world leader in ground-based and wind turbine-nacelle mounted Lidar (Light Detection and Ranging) equipment for atmospheric observation.

In a context of constant growth and development of its activities, Leosphere, a Vaisala company, is hiring a Test Engineer.



The Test Engineer is in charge of the technological development of the test benches for the opto-electronic functions composing the Doppler lidars developed in the company, the design/industrialization of the metrology benches used to calibrate/validate the performance of Vaisala's lidars by cooperating with the industrial, R&D and technical teams in France and in Finland.


  • Bench development:
  • Responsible for the design of measurement or adjustment benches for the group's factories (mainly Saclay or Shanghai) and suppliers.
  • Actively participate in the reflection on the test and measurement strategy of LiDARs during their manufacturing and maintenance cycle.
  • Manage all stages of development:
  • Write the specifications taking into account the industrial needs and the test specifications,
  • Establish and monitor the development schedule and budget,
  • Search for innovative technical solutions,
  • Manage the development/external manufacturing of the benches in compliance with the quality/cost/deadline triptych,
  • Write the test specifications with the departments holding the technical information (R&D, science, etc.) and all technical documentation.
  • Develop the software in C#,


  • Industrial qualification of the benches: Responsible for the industrial qualification as well as the Qualification plan of the benches and its implementation until validation by the final customer (Verification of conformity to the CDC, R&R, Statistical study, Error budget...).


  • Transfer to Production (Industrialization): Responsible for the Transfer, drafting of production and maintenance procedures, Training technicians and Methods/Process engineers to use the bench and to perform 1st level maintenance.


  • Maintain / Upgrade: Responsible for the Calibration, Maintenance and Repair of the benches. Production support. Manage the digitization of the results provided by the benches and their analysis / interpretation (VTX / eCoach). Responsible for the management of bench evolutions for bench improvement or adjustment to the evolutions of the tested product.


Engineer with a specialization in optoelectronics, optronics, instrumentation, minimum 5 years successful experience in a capital goods industry (electronics, optoelectronics, embedded equipment, medical equipment or metrology) as an optoelectronic engineer, if possible in the field of testing.

Specialized skills are required in the following areas

- Instrumental and fiber optics

- Optoelectronics and optomechanics

- Analogue and digital signal processing

- Physical measurements

- Programming and data analysis in C#, MATLAB and Python

- English language comprehension and expression (scientific and relational)


A general level of competence is required in the following subjects

- Metrology, atmospheric physics

- General physics

- Electronics

- Lasers and fiber amplifiers

- Beam propagation

- Writing skills and oral fluency

The development of test benches and their metrological characterisation implies varied knowledge and versatility on the part of the Test & Bench Engineer.
