Software Development Team Leader

Our subsidiary VAISALA France SAS, located in Saclay (91) is a key supplier of atmospheric measurement instruments for the analysis of wind profiles, thanks to LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging), laser technology (predominantly optical, photonic and electronic). Its various markets are the wind industry, international airports, meteorology and air quality. VAISALA France SAS generates its turnover mainly internationally on the 5 continents.


In a context of constant growth and development of its activities, VAISALA France SAS is currently recruiting a Software Development Team Lead.


Attached to the R&D Director, you will be part of an agile development team, building and working on Embedded Lidar software systems and cloud applications. The Software Development Team Lead will provide software development methodology and team leadership through coaching and mentorship. The software delivered to customers and project teams should be developed with the right level of quality, to schedule and in accordance to the Company standards when applicable. The software delivered is fully tested and documented.


Your main missions will be to:

  • Ensure all the tasks inherent in hierarchical management (setting of objectives, evaluation, remuneration, recruitment ...).
  • Guide team development efforts towards successful project delivery.
  • Provide software development methodology leadership to teammates through coaching and mentorship.
  • Allocate the necessary resources to performed software development as required by software project manager or software architect
  • Maintain high standards of software quality within the team by establishing good practices and habits.
  • Identify and encourage areas for growth and improvement within the team.
  • Assist in the collection and documentation of user's requirements, development of user stories, estimates and work plans.
  • Prepare reports, manuals and other documentation on the status, operation and maintenance of software.
  • Define and maintain quality insurance KPI.
  • Participate in peer-reviews of solution designs and related code, system validation preparation.
  • Package and support deployment of releases.
  • Supporting the Software Project Manager in all stages of the development life cycle, including initial analysis, implementation, integration, testing, debugging, data validation, and support.
  • Analyze and resolve technical and application problems.
  • Assess opportunities for application and process improvement and prepare documentation of rationale to share with team members and other affected parties.
  • Adhere to high-quality development principles while delivering solutions on-time and on-budget.



Bachelor's degree from engineering school or university degree in Computer Science or related discipline and minimum 5 years as a Software Developer experience in a technical leadership position in an international and industrial environment.


- Knowledge of software engineering techniques.

- Knowledge of quality standards and associated good practices.

- Experience with automated testing

- Experience with agile development methodologies including Kanban and Scrum Experience.

- Comprehensive understanding of object-oriented and service-oriented application development techniques and theories.

- Internally motivated, able to work proficiently both independently and in a team environment.

- Strong communication skills with both internal team members and external business stakeholders.

- Strong initiative to find ways to improve solutions, systems, and processes.
