Our subsidiary VAISALA France SAS, located in Saclay (91) is a key supplier of atmospheric measurement instruments for the analysis of wind profiles, thanks to LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging), laser technology (predominantly optical, photonic and electronic). Its various markets are the wind industry, international airports, meteorology and air quality. VAISALA France SAS generates its turnover mainly internationally on the 5 continents.



The Director for Scientific and Technical Research leads efforts to improve Lidar instrument performances, open new applications, and compete in current and emerging markets.

He (she) reports to the Remote Sensing and AviMet Product Area Director.

In this position, the objective is to invent, develop, demonstrate and improve the capabilities of Lidar instruments to provide accurate measurements for wind energy, meteorology, airport security and air quality applications. The activity involves technology research on optoelectronic components, signal processing architecture and algorithms, data processing for all applications, proofs and dissemination of results as a scientific complement to marketing.

Your main assignments will be to:

  • Lead managers, with a team of ~20 scientists, interns and PhD students, working on lidar architecture, technology development, data analysis and metrology of wind lidars, and scientific marketing,
  • Invent new lidar architectures and develop related innovative optoelectronic components based on state-of-the-art technology, to improve performance, cost efficiency and reliability.
  • Identify innovative algorithms improvements related to metrology and to applications, based on state-of-the-art scientific knowledge,
  • Realize of proofs of application, evaluation of key scientific benefits of using Lidar technology in various applications,
  • Participate in national and international collaborative projects (key research laboratories, innovation and standardization working groups)
  • Support for marketing / sales / business development by bringing a high-level expertise on wind measurement techniques
  • Support manufacturing and validation when expertise is required
  • Develop of scientific collaborations with leading laboratories and research companies
  • Disseminate of results related to pilot projects and experiments, in scientific publications and at international conferences
  • Improve company Intellectual Property by applying patents
  • Conduct scientific and technological survey of the market and new Lidar applications
  • Participate in international working groups and experts to establish Lidar instrument usage practices and standards 


  • Expert in optical measurement techniques, signal and data processing.
  • Recognized by the research community for your excellent scientific skills in optoelectronics, data processing and simulation algorithms.
  • Proven track record of very good Leadership and Management skills
  • French and English. Other languages appreciated
