Trainee, Competence Development
We are looking for a Trainee, Competence Development to join our Project, CareTech and Service team at Vaisala headquarters in Vantaa, Finland. In this role, you will play a key part in designing and documenting a standardized system for tracking knowledge levels and structuring employee training to ensure our service team members have the world class skills to support our customers worldwide.

What will your summer look like?
- Research and consolidate existing competency matrixes and training outlines across Tech Support, Field Service, and Service Centers
- Collaborate with product experts, service managers, and team leads located in different Vaisala locations to evaluate training needs
- Analyze and categorize current training materials, certification processes, and competency gaps
- Assist in developing structured training guidelines to ensure standardization and scalability across different product lines
- Create a guidance framework for team leads, helping them effectively implement and maintain the updated competency matrix
- Gain hands-on experience in competency-based training design and cross-functional collaboration
- Work as part of a small development focused team in Finland. The project manger of this initiative is located in the US
What will you bring?
- Currently pursuing a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Education, Organizational Leadership, or a related field
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to gather, interpret, and document large amounts of data in an organized manner
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with confidence in interviewing experts and facilitating discussions across departments
- Ability to work independently, structure priorities, and manage multiple tasks effectively
- Interest in AI-driven process improvement, competency assessment, and knowledge management
- Ability to work in international work environment
- Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus
