Supplier Quality Manager

We are looking for a Supplier Quality Manager to join our Global Sourcing team at Vaisala headquarters in Vantaa, Finland. Join us and make a difference by ensuring product quality and fostering strong supplier relationships.

What's your role?

You will be part of our Supplier Quality Management team of 6 professionals. Together with the team, you will have an excellent opportunity to impact and improve the quality, reliability and safety of our products. In this role you will be working in close co-operation with Sourcing Category Managers, Process Engineers and our suppliers. You will report to Senior Manager, Supplier Quality.

 

Your main responsibilities are:

Drive Supplier Quality by Problem Solving, Case Handling, and Continuous Improvement:

  • Lead Quality Development: Take ownership of the quality roadmap for a portfolio of critical suppliers, ensuring their development aligns with strategic goals through systematic Quality Improvement Projects (QIP).
  • Resolve Supplier Issues: Manage supplier-related quality issues efficiently, ensuring systematic completion, closure, and clear communication.
  • Be the Quality Representative: Participate in MRB (Material Review Board) activities and act as the supplier quality representative for Vaisala Weather Factory.

Supplier Auditing and On-Site Support:

  • Lead and Participate in Audits: Maintain the audit plan, ensuring thorough and effective supplier audits.
  • Ensure Corrective Actions: Oversee the completion of corrective actions to address any identified issues.
  • Enhance Supplier Quality: Provide on-site support to improve suppliers' quality and processes, especially when urgent issues arise.

What will you bring?

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in technology, engineering, or supply chain management.
  • 5+ years of experience in supplier quality management, supplier management, or quality management in the manufacturing industry.
  • Knowledge of industrial supply networks, industrial factory operations and experience in supplier collaboration, preferably in electronics or in mechanics.
  • ISO9001 lead auditor training or equivalent work experience (IRCA certified training preferred).
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification or demonstratable equivalent knowledge.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, along with the ability to coach and influence without formal authority.
  • Attitude of taking Initiative, responsibility and willingness to travel.

Nice to Have Requirements:

  • ISO14001 auditor training and / or experience in sustainability management in industrial setting.
  • Statistical software knowledge: Minitab or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with international standards in the electronics and/or mechanical industries.

Competitive Compensation: € 52 160 - € 78 240 annually. Salary is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, internal equity, and alignment with industry standards and local market factors.
