About the role

The goal of the Mechanical Design System is to identify reusable parts and components that can be utilized across multiple products. Examples include enclosures and mounting solutions for measurement instruments, as well as weather shields, light rings, and cable glands.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Interviewing designers and reviewing products and components to identify reusable parts
• Combining your expertise with stakeholder input to propose reusable components
• Collaborating with industrial designers and mechanical engineers to select the initial components for the Mechanical Design System
• Creating a digital catalog (e.g., a website) to present reusable components, enabling product development teams to find and further develop these elements independently
• Developing a physical showcase of components to support design workshops and encourage reuse in product development projects

Key responsibilities

• Planning, managing, and executing the project in detail
• Engaging stakeholders and facilitating co-design processes
• Delivering and documenting final results, including the digital catalog and physical showcase

Skills and Expertise

• Curiosity and courage: You thrive in uncharted territory. This project is a new initiative without ready-made solutions, so learning and innovation are key
• Mechanical design expertise, with a focus on Design for Manufacturing (DFM)
• Interest and, if possible, expertise in industrial design
• Balance between independent work and collaboration: You will lead the project’s planning and execution while making decisions and developing solutions in close cooperation with mechanical engineering and industrial design teams
