Software Engineer

What's your role? 

We are looking for a Software Engineer developer to join our Airport Weather Information System team, building a market leading software for enabling runway traffic management. The role is a full stack engineer but can be tailored in case of a good match. You will report to Product Manager, Software Products. 

 

AviMet is a scalable and highly configurable weather observation, monitoring and reporting software. It is the foundation of Vaisala’s market-leading position in the global airport weather monitoring business.  Some of the users are pilots, air traffic controllers, forecasters, and observers who need accurate weather information in real-time to ensure safe and efficient flight operations at airports. AviMet obtains data from sensors and remote sensing devices and provides information to all the stakeholders at an airport to support better decision-making and improved safety and efficiency.   

Your responsibilities include: 

  • Creating a modernized version of existing software using technologies like TypeScript, React, Next.js, Python, RabbitMQ, Keycloak, Docker swarm.  
  • Optionally working on existing software built in C++.    

What will you bring? 

  • In depth knowledge of TypeScript, React, Next.js to be able to develop web applications. Familiarity with C++ is beneficial.
  • Proficient in Python and its frameworks for backend development.
  • Knowledge of PostgreSQL or other SQL databases.
  • Good knowledge of building scalable, fault-tolerant systems using technologies such as Docker, Docker Swarm, Kubernetes, Virtual Machines, or RabbitMQ.
  • Experience in designing, developing, releasing, testing, and maintaining software products.
  • Linux and scripting know-how.
  • Experience with automating CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or GitLab.
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills, along with a curious mindset.
  • Proficiency in English.

Competitive Compensation: € 52,160 - €78,240 annually. Salary is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, internal equity, and alignment with industry standards and local market factors.
