Vaisala’s industry-leading weather observation technologies, instruments, and solutions lay the foundation for the Weather and Environment business area’s strategy, enabling our customers to improve their ability to measure and forecast weather and weather phenomena. The business area serves selected weather-dependent customers to whom accurate, real-time, uninterrupted, and reliable weather data is essential to run efficient operations.

 

We are currently searching for a highly motivated XaaS (Software and Observations as a Service) Sales Manager.  This is a mid-level sales position ideal for someone looking to sell innovative hardware and software subscription services. The purpose of the role is to create and close new subscription opportunities within the municipal government, logistics, commercial property owners, mining companies, utilities and other weather impacted markets. This role is an important part in Vaisala’s growth initiatives, and is responsible for helping to generate new subscription opportunities and meeting sales targets by proactively seeking new business, identifying new market potential, and negotiating and closing deals.

 

Your key responsibilities include:

 

  • Promote Vaisala’s offering by prospecting for new customers (10-50 outbound phone calls per day), following up on leads from try before you buy and freemium software programs, leading customer facing meeting both virtually and in-person, and participating in exhibitions and conferences to generate sales and opportunities with prospects not currently doing business with Vaisala. In certain cases you will transfer leads to the appropriate territory sales manager in support of Vaisala’s internal rules of engagement.
  • Uncover customer needs and demonstrate the value of Vaisala’s products
  • Prepare quotations and proposals in accordance with the Vaisala sales process.
  • Drive growth within the assigned territory
  • Utilize SalesForce.com and VanillaSoft to manage activities, contacts, and opportunities in accordance with existing rules and practices.
  • Manage new customer opportunities
  • Recruit and manage channel partners to sell Vaisala’s XaaS offering
  • Disseminate customer knowledge, needs, requirements and feedback to relevant internal interest groups.
  • Position requires 25-50% travel.

To be successful in this role, we´re searching for a candidate with the following qualifications:


Educational Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.

 

Required Work Experience

 

  • 3-7 years previous technical sales experience within an as-a-service business model
  • A consistent track record of success including closing sales over the telephone
  • Familiarity with government trade practices, B2B trade practices contractual issues, financing instruments, etc.
  • Experience working across national borders within Europe

 

Skills and Knowledge

 

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Fluent in English language a must.
  • Familiarity with an SDR based sales model.
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and well organized team player with a positive attitude towards customer service.
  • Passion to win and persistence to complete even the most cumbersome cases.
  • Excellent time management and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Willingness and ability to grow competences by learning relevant industry standards as well as market specific issues (culture, customers, competitors).
  • Willingness and ability to grow competences by deepening knowledge of Vaisala offerings (products, systems, services, and markets) as well as commercial competences.
  • Knowledge of modern selling techniques with an emphasis on why prospects should change how they currently operate to achieve their desired result.
