R&D Summer Trainee
We are looking for multi-disciplinary, hands-on R&D Summer Trainee to join the weather & environment product development team in our headquarters at Vantaa. During the summer, you will assist in different product development project activities, such as testing, assembling, and installing devices and product prototypes.
Vaisala’s measurement solutions have an impact where it truly matters - enabling climate action and solving some of the biggest challenges of our time. We are a global leader in weather, environment, and industrial measurements. Our technologies can be found where they matter the most, from hospitals, national parks, and data centers to airports and wind farms all over the world – even on Mars!
You will be part of our product development team consisting of several professionals from different design areas. You will have an excellent opportunity with the team to witness development of new exiting products. In this role, you will work closely with hardware test engineer and help with testing activities to verify the performance, robustness, and reliability of a prototype. You will report to Development manager, HW testing.
What will your summer look like?
- You familiarize yourself with procedures (design & testing) necessary for achieving state of the art product with extreme reliability in challenging climatic conditions.
- You use the existing prototypes and our R&D house world class laboratory facilities to learn about robustness and performance of the prototype. This includes hands-on testing, building of test setups and test reporting. Warning: The necessary destructive testing can be highly addictive to the right candidate!
- McGyvering might be necessary: possible technical solutions to the issues you find. You are not afraid of duct tape, steel wire or cardboard.
- You will work with an R&D project team, getting support from the Vaisala experts.
- Vaisala Vantaa office is your location. The job cannot be done remotely or in other offices.
What skillset are we looking for?
- You are studying for a Bachelors / Master’s degree in Engineering or Technology in a relevant field, such as mechanical, electrical or automation technology.
- You can make (hack and rapid prototype) things that do not exist. You are not afraid of hand tools.
- Curious personality who wants to learn about technological details.
