R&D Project Manager

We are looking for a R&D Project Manager to join our Industrial Measurements Products and Systems R&D Project Management team at Vaisala headquarters in Vantaa, Finland. What's your role? 

 

The R&D Project Manager is responsible for leading and managing research and development projects in the Industrial Measurements business area.  You will be part of our R&D Project Management team of 13 professionals. You will report to Development Manager. Your first task will be to lead and manage a System Connectivity Device R&D project. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead and oversee R&D projects from start to finish, ensuring all project goals, timelines, and budgets are met. 

  • Create comprehensive project plans that include scope, schedule, and resource allocation to support efficient execution. 

  • Guide and support the project team, fostering a positive, collaborative culture that promotes innovation. 

  • Facilitate regular team meetings and establish open, transparent communication channels to keep stakeholders (e.g., product areas, operations, sales, support) well-informed and engaged. 

  • Apply expertise in product ownership and Agile methodologies to effectively support the Software Product Owner. 

  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to gather and define product requirements, ensuring alignment with development goals. 

  • Ensure the product vision and objectives are consistent with the company’s strategic priorities, driving meaningful, customer-focused outcomes. 

 

What will you bring? 

 

We’re looking for a proactive project management expert with a foundation in software development and a drive to lead R&D projects that align closely with our business objectives and deliver enhanced value to our customers. 

 

  • Proven project management experience, especially in R&D and software development projects. 

  • Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies; experience as a Software Product Owner or Agile lead is a plus. 

  • A business-oriented mindset with a focus on delivering customer value. 

  • Relevant certifications in Project Management (e.g., IPMA C) and Agile frameworks (e.g., Scrum Master, Product Owner) are a bonus. 

  • Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
