Process Engineer

We are looking for a Process Engineer to join our Process Engineering and Support team at our Instrument Factory at Vaisala headquarters in Vantaa, Finland. This is an excellent opportunity especially for early‑career engineers to build a strong foundation in Lean manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and data‑driven process development in a high‑tech production environment!

What's your role? 

You will be part of our Process Engineering and Support team of 11 professionals. In this role you will work close to production, gaining hands‑on experience in manufacturing processes while contributing to safety, quality, delivery performance, and cost efficiency. The role is primarily factory‑based, providing strong exposure to real production environments: 

• Support daily production operations and help secure manufacturing continuity 

• Actively participate in Lean and Continuous Improvement (CI) activities 

• Support implementation of product and process changes 

• Analyze production data and factory metrics to identify improvement opportunities 

• Participate in root cause analysis and structured problem solving 

• Develop and improve work instructions, process documentation, and standard work 

• Support quality deviation handling, containment actions, and investigations 

• Collaborate closely with operators, team leaders, quality, and other support functions 

• Promote safety, quality, and standardized ways of working on the factory floor

What will you bring? 

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in relevant field (Industrial, Mechanical, Automation, Production, or similar) 

• Interest in Lean manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and Six Sigma methodologies 

• Basic understanding of Lean tools (e.g. 5S, waste reduction, flow, standard work) from earlier work experience, studies, projects, or internships 

• Good analytical skills; ability to work with data 

• Structured and logical problem‑solving approach 

• Willingness to work hands‑on in a factory environment 

• Good communication skills and ability to work with different stakeholders 

• Interest in work safety and manufacturing quality 

• Strong English skills; Finnish is considered an advantage
