Giant Leap Trainee, R&D Data Engineer

Are you ready to take a Giant Leap? We’re looking for a R&D Data Engineer focusing on AI Agent Development for our Giant Leap program – a project-based internship in our HQ in Vantaa. We are looking for a motivated and curious person to join our team to develop an AI-powered solution in the Products & Technologies team working in the Weather, Energy and Environment business area, as part of the AI Agents for Product Health Analysis project. As a Giant Leaper, you will get your own project to lead for three months, starting in June.

What will your summer look like?

• Get familiar with systems, data sources and tools that are used in Vaisala
• Collaborate with various business and technical stakeholders to understand and prioritize requirements, and to maximize the impact of the developed new tools
• Design and implement an AI agent or solution utilizing multiple AI agents, that combine information from various systems and software and build actionable insights
• Use selected AI tools to automate existing workflows and enhance data analysis
• Document your work and present insights to the team
• This role offers a unique opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and gain hands-on experience in integrating data from multiple sources, analyzing it effectively and creating actionable insights

What kind of skillset are we looking for?

• Programming: Basic to intermediate skills in Python or similar languages
• AI Fundamentals: Understanding of AI concepts, APIs, and practical applications
• Data Handling: Ability to work with structured and unstructured data, perform basic analysis
• Problem-Solving: Logical thinking and ability to break down complex tasks
• Team work and ownership: ability to manage feedback from multiple stakeholders, facilitate prioritization and drive the first functioning release of the newly developed tool set
