Giant Leap Trainee, Product Marketing
Are you ready to take a Giant Leap? We’re looking for a product marketing trainee for our Giant Leap program – a project-based internship in our HQ in Vantaa. We want to achieve an “online marketing boost” for our products by taking a fresh look at the content we use to promote products online (web pages, social media, online store). You act as a potential customer and define improvements for the online content and customer journey for our products. As a Giant Leaper, you will get your own project to lead for three months, starting in June.
Vaisala is a global leader in measurement instruments and intelligence helping industries, nations, people, and the planet to thrive. From predicting hurricanes to optimizing renewable energy production, our technology is used where it matters the most – from data centers, windfarms and laboratories to airports, the Arctic and even the surface of Mars. Our team of over 2,300 experts and 59 nationalities around the world is committed to taking every measure for the planet. Driven by our shared purpose, curiosity, and pioneering spirit, we stay ahead and make a difference. At Vaisala, you don't have to fit in to belong.
Giant Leap is a unique opportunity for you to be the project manager of your own project, with the support of your teammates and project supervisor. Every year, these projects are carefully selected by our leadership teams, meaning that you get to work on real-life questions that are important for us as a company.
We invest in your growth with training sessions throughout the summer. Along with lessons from your own field and work life in general, you have a chance to learn, for instance, presentation skills, project management and problem solving. Connections built with fellow Giant Leapers, Vaisala’s brilliant experts and our leadership form an invaluable network for your career. Many of our former Giant Leapers have also gone on to build impressive careers at Vaisala after the program.
What will your summer look like?
- You will study Vaisala’s and Vaisala’s competitors’ and other peer companies’ online product marketing information (web sites, web shops, social media). Weather stations will be the lead case in your study.
- You will take the point of view of our potential customer in fast-moving target markets, such as renewable energy. We will provide you with the necessary guidance to get in the right mode.
- In the end of your project, you have created improvement plan for our online presence in promotion of our products, and some parts of that plan you might implement during the project period.
- With your input, Vaisala will be able to scale its sales in the fast-moving target markets and that way help the world in the energy transition to renewable and non-fossil-fuel sources.
- You will work with several product managers and marketing managers and get the primary guidance from Weather Stations Product Line Manager and Product Marketing Manager. You get to know the people who manage the products that keep the planet’s weather forecasts and climate series going.
- You have the possibility to learn from senior product management and marketing professionals during the summer and have the possibility show your skills and energy in a high-tech industry setting.
- You are likely to work more than 50% of the time in our Headquarters building in Vantaanlaakso to be able to interact face-to-face with the key stakeholders. For parts of the study consisting of pure desktop work, you are free to work remotely.
What kind of skillset are we looking for?
- We are looking for a 2nd to 4th year undergraduate student, preferably of engineering or economics, with a strong drive to contribute and learn in international high-tech business.
- We look for a candidate with a marketing mindset; you are willing and capable to formulate customer benefits based on technical merits. You need to be outspoken to challenge the status quo where it’s necessary.
- We expect a candidate with very good command of the English language. Other major market area language skills (such as Spanish, German, French, Portuguese, Japanese) are seen as an additional benefit.
- Skills related to online marketing tools and online shops are seen as an additional benefit.
