Giant Leap Trainee, Industrial Engineering
Are you ready to take a Giant Leap? We’re looking for a Industrial Engineering Trainee for our Giant Leap program – a project-based internship in our HQ in Vantaa. Sensor Factory machine pool renewal project aims to improve product costing accuracy. As a concrete outcome we will have documented and transparent logic for machine pool. As a Giant Leaper, you will get your own project to lead for three months, starting in June.

Giant Leap is a unique opportunity for you to be the project manager of your own project, with the support of your teammates and project supervisor. Every year, these projects are carefully selected by our leadership teams, meaning that you get to work on real-life questions that are important for us as a company.

What will your summer look like?
- Analyze different ways to absorb machine costs to different products, seek for common understanding about boundaries and limitations for optimized system, define routing time logic and define machine pool costs, present new logic and get approval for its implementation.
- Beef of the project is to explode the old dusty out-dated machine pool logic and present a new model, which is modern, data-based, transparent and easy to maintain.
- Your project is essential to Vaisala as it improves product costing accuracy.
- Expected results of the project are documented logic of new machine pools and matrix how different products use machine pools. Also written guidelines for maintaining machine pools is needed.
- You will work with Sensor factory product development and process development team members and experts from Finance& Control. Your supervisor Juulia is passionate about project topic and developing/coaching people. We have easy-going, welcoming atmosphere at office and colleagues are eager to help in any kind of issue.
- You will learn about sensors used in Vaisala products, high-tech machinery, equipment and testers used in cleanrooms to produce these sensors and product costing, and how these interact.
- You will work at Vaisala HQ, to be more accurate at sensor factory support area. We do appreciate your presence at office, but remote work to some extent is also feasible.
What kind of skillset are we looking for?
- Industrial engineering is probably most suitable, but various backgrounds are possible. You must be able to learn new things, and build new competence during summer
- Data analysis, visualization of complex system and interest in product cost structure, negotiation skills
- Can do attitude, independent working style, easy to approach other people,
