Giant Leap Trainee, Export Control
Are you ready to take a Giant Leap? We’re looking for a tech-savvy trainee with a keen interest in process improvement for our Giant Leap program – a project-based internship in our HQ in Vantaa. Join us this summer and help revolutionize our export control procedures! Apply your expertise and analytical mindset to improve efficiency of our international high-tech operations. As a Giant Leaper, you will get your own project to lead for three months, starting in June.

Giant Leap is a unique opportunity for you to be the project manager of your own project, with the support of your teammates and project supervisor. Every year, these projects are carefully selected by our leadership teams, meaning that you get to work on real-life questions that are important for us as a company.

What will your summer look like?
Vaisala Oyj and its subsidiaries continue their commitment to maintaining and enhancing an effective global Export Compliance Program. It is designed to address the unique challenges and opportunities presented by our operations, partnerships, and diverse geographical presence. With export control and sanctions compliance awareness gaining traction globally, we are continuously looking for ways to improve the efficiency and consistency of our working methods.
In the role of Export Control trainee, you will:
- Investigate and propose innovative solutions for handling inquiries related to export control statements and red flags in business transactions.
- Explore business IT tools like Salesforce and IT ticketing systems and develop workflows for your selected solutions.
- Collaborate with diverse internal stakeholders across various departments.
- Potentially lead the implementation of your suggested improvements.
You will work closely with Export Control and Product compliance teams as part of our global quality team. Your work will also involve significant interaction with our IT department, along with various business areas and organizational units.
You will gain practical insights into how export control is implemented within the context of an international high-tech company, along with valuable experience in business process improvement, stakeholder engagement, and compliance and risk assessment. Come and learn something you cannot learn at school!
Your location will be in our global headquarters in Vantaa. There is a possibility to work partly remotely.
What kind of skillset are we looking for?
- A keen interest in technology and process optimization.
- Practical mindset on how to find efficient and new ways of working.
- Ability to work with virtual and global cross functional teams.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Comfortable using English as a main language.
- Prior experience with CPQ (Salesforce), SAP or IT ticketing system is a benefit.
The role is ideal for student in the fields of business, data analytics and data/IT/software engineering.
