Giant Leap Trainee, Chemical Engineering
Are you ready to take a Giant Leap? We’re looking for a Chemical Engineering Trainee for our Giant Leap program – a project-based internship in our HQ in Vantaa. You will be doing hands-on experimental measurements with liquids using state-of-the-art instruments and also more theoretical analysis based on the results. As a Giant Leaper, you will get your own project to lead for three months, starting in June.

What will your summer look like?
- Giant leap trainee will perform wide range of tests to characterize calibration liquids for refractometers. The work will include both hands-on experimental measurements with state-of-the-art instruments and more theoretical analysis based on the results.
- The results will provide vital information to Vaisala needed to optimize calibration and adjustment of refractometers.
- One aspect of the work is to improve usability and safety with the calibration liquids.
- Expected outcome of the work is thorough understanding of different potential calibration liquids
- During the summer, you will learn to work in a laboratory with state-of-the-art measurement instruments and gain knowledge about safe use of chemicals. Learned methods to analyze measurement data and ways of reporting them will be useful e.g. in your thesis. In addition to this you will learn details of refractometer measurement technology and Vaisala as a company.
- You will have a team of experienced scientists to guide and support you in your work.
- The work is done at Vaisala Vantaa office. Work is mostly done in the lab; remote work is possible only from time to time.
What kind of skillset are we looking for?
- We expect that you have some knowledge of chemistry and experience in working in chemistry lab.
- Experience of laboratory measurements is considered as an advantage.
- Candidate should have a genuine interest in technology and a desire to learn and explore new advancements. We hope you can collaborate effectively with others and communicate clearly.
