Giant Leap Trainee, AI in Business Control

Are you ready to take a Giant Leap? We’re looking for a Business Control AI Project Trainee for our Giant Leap program – a project-based internship in our HQ in Vantaa. The aim of this project is develop a tool to support Business Control by automating and improving analytics with AI technologies – preferably to utilize technologies already in use or in testing in Vaisala. As a Giant Leaper, you will get your own project to lead for three months, starting in June.

What will your summer look like?

 

As a Giant Leap Trainee, you'll dive into an exciting project aimed at developing an AI-powered tool to support our Business Control team. This tool should automate data integration, identify trends, and/or highlight abnormalities in financial data such as sales, costs, and budgets. Your work will be crucial in streamlining processes and enhancing decision-making at Vaisala.

 

Project Significance: The project is essential to our "simplify and scale" strategy, aiming to reduce complexity and improve efficiency across the organization. By the end of the summer, we expect you to have developed a prototype that automates key analytical tasks, providing our Business Controllers with more actionable insights and reducing their manual workload.

 

Your Team and Support: You'll collaborate closely with our Business Control teams, Digital Excellence team for technical integration, key business stakeholders to align analytics outputs with real needs, and other Giant Leap trainees working on AI topics. Your supervisor will be Erika Grönroos, Head of Internal Controls, who will guide you through the project and ensure you gain valuable experience.

 

Your Learning Experience: During the summer, you'll have the opportunity to work on AI-powered models, integrate and analyze data, create data comparisons, highlight abnormalities, and perform trend analysis. You'll also gain insights into scenario creation and how to collaborate effectively with various teams to deliver impactful results. Plus, you'll get to know other trainees, potentially creating lifelong friendships along the way. And of course, we believe in having fun as well!

 

Practicalities: This position is based at our Vantaa office with the possibility of hybrid work, aligning with the specific requirements of each project phase.

 

What kind of skillset are we looking for?

 

We are looking for a Master’s student in a relevant field such as Information Technology, Business, Finance, or Industrial Engineering. Cross-disciplinary studies combining technology, analytics, and business are a strong advantage.

 

The ideal candidate should have basic knowledge of financial analysis and familiarity with tools like Power BI, Python, or AI/ML concepts is a plus.

 

We value a curious mindset, a positive attitude, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and goal-oriention. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively are also important. Proficiency in English is essential, as it is our working language.
