Giant Leap Trainee, AI-Powered Testing

Are you ready to take a Giant Leap? We’re looking for an AI Driven Test Automation Intern for our Giant Leap program – a project-based internship in our HQ in Vantaa. The project: AI Assisted Test Automation for Modernizing Vaisala's Core Test Platforms explores how AI can accelerate modernization of our test automation platform that supports multiple Vaisala product teams. As a Giant Leaper, you will get your own project to lead for three months, starting in June.

What will your summer look like?

During the summer, you will focus on creating AI workflow tooling for our new test framework by migrating an existing test suite using AI-generated language model instructions. After familiarizing yourself with our platform and testing practices, you will begin the work manually and then increasingly leverage AI, potentially extending the test framework as needed. This project is essential to Vaisala, as the framework is at the core of our Linux platform and supports testing for Vaisala products. By enabling AI in workflows, you will help create scalable benefits across multiple teams.

Expected results:

1. Develop AI workflow infrastructure for handling test cases.
2. Migrate the existing test suite to the new framework.
3. Present a report summarizing key learnings from the project.

You will work with the Vaisala Linux platform team, responsible for common platform and services shared across several products. The team’s expertise spans from low-level hardware to web frontend and testing, and the test architect will supervise your internship.

Throughout the internship, you will gain hands-on experience in test automation in real-life environments, Python and Linux, and even basic familiarity with electronics.The internship will take place at Vaisala headquarters in Vantaa, with 2–3 days per week on-site required.

  • AI/LLM based software engineering
  • Bonus: Yocto Linux
• First and foremost, we are looking for genuine passion in testing and QA, and open-minded approach to applying AI agents in test automation.
