Field Service Engineer

We are looking for a Field Service Engineer to join our Global Service team in Project, CareTech & Service organization at Vaisala headquarters in Vantaa, Finland. Join us in a global field service role where independence, adaptability, and close customer collaboration drive success.

What's your role?

You will be part of our Global Service team, which specializes in providing professional customer support in demanding field service activities with various weather observation products. The team’s services cover all stages, from factory acceptance, installations, site acceptance, trainings to life-cycle service support. Together with the team, you will have an excellent opportunity to perform field service tasks related to our weather radar products. This role includes global travel, typically 40-80 days per year, with single travel ranging typically from one week to three weeks. You will report to Field Service Team Lead.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Factory Acceptance Tests
  • Installations
  • Customer Trainings
  • System Acceptance Tests
  • Site surveys
  • Preventative Maintenance
  • Corrective Maintenance

 

What will you bring?

  • Previous experience from field service work, preferably globally.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical field or from meteorology
  • Advanced knowledge on electronics, and/or telecommunications and computer networking
  • Experience from work with complex mechanical products
  • Linux operating system experience
  • Excellent customer communication skills
  • Ability to work on heights
  • Strong proficiency in English, other languages seen as a plus

 

Following qualifications are seen as an asset:

  • Experience in RF technology
  • Experience in signal processing
  • Basic understanding of meteorology
