Environmental Specialist

What's your role? 

As a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) Specialist, your primary task will be to produce LCAs following relevant standards. You will implement and act as a superuser of a life cycle assessment tool focused on products and CO2 emissions reduction. Additionally, you will create support material for environmental improvements in product projects and sourcing, while keeping up-to-date with relevant standards, industry guidelines, and regulations. You will actively seek and share innovative solutions and best practices for product development. 

During your first years, you will focus on building an example life cycle model for typical Vaisala products, implementing the LCA tool and participating in its development. The focus will be on producing LCAs for existing products and supporting calculations for new product projects. In the long term, your role will be shaped by your skills and interests as well as Vaisala’s needs. 

What will you bring? 

• Basic understanding of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). 
• Background in product development, LCA, or environmental management. 
• Quick to learn new tools and software. 
• Analytical, proactive, and pioneering mindset. 
• Fluent in spoken and written English. 

Advantages: 

• Understanding of product development processes. 
• Familiarity with manufacturing industry data, operations, and models (e.g., PDM, BOM, ERP). 
• Knowledge of Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) and related standards.
