Electronics Engineer

We are looking for an Electronics Engineer to join our Industrial Measurements R&D team at Vaisala, headquarters in Vantaa, Finland.

What’s your role?

 

You will work in our Industrial Measurements R&D team, focusing on sustaining and lifecycle-related activities for existing products. Together with the team, you will validate, improve, and sustain electronics solutions for Vaisala Industrial Measurements products throughout their lifecycle.

In this role, you will work in close cooperation with R&D colleagues, manufacturing, and suppliers. You will handle designs from prototyping and testing all the way to implementation and production. As a technical expert, you will also provide electronics support for other functions within the organization. You will report to R&D Manager.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Sustaining and improving electronics solutions for Industrial Measurements products across their lifecycle.
  • Supporting existing products through lifecycle changes, including component obsolescence, feature development, production optimizations, and quality or compliance improvements.
  • Working hands‑on with electronics from laboratory prototyping and testing to design validation.
  • Contributing electronics expertise within the R&D team and collaborating with manufacturing, technical support, and product management to resolve complex technical issues and support the business.
  • Collaborating with internal manufacturing teams and external suppliers through root cause analyses, continuous improvement activities, and production ramp‑ups.

 

What will you bring?

 

  • 2+ years of experience in electronics schematic design and PCB layout.
  • Experience in testing, debugging, and troubleshooting electronic systems.
  • Practical understanding of EMC aspects in electronics design and validation.
  • A few years of experience in an R&D setting, preferably within product development or sustaining engineering roles.
  • Experience using electronic design tools such as PADS and SPICE, with the ability to use Python scripting or AI‑based tools to enhance workflow efficiency.
  • Comfortable working with microcontrollers, analog circuits, and commonly used electronic components.
  • Familiarity in standards such as Ex or ATEX are seen as an advantage.
  • A structured and analytical approach with a proactive attitude that helps identify issues early, drive solutions forward, and continuously learn.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks parallelly and deliver results in tight timelines.
  • A collaborative way of working, combined with the confidence to make independent technical decisions when needed.
  • Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Willingness to work primarily on-site at Vaisala’s premises due to the hands‑on nature of laboratory and hardware development work.
