Director, Brand & Communications

Location:

Helsinki, FI

We are looking for a Director, Brand and Communications to lead our Communications and Brand team in Vantaa, Finland. This is a new leadership role that brings brand and corporate communications together under one owner, giving a senior professional end-to-end responsibility for how Vaisala is seen, understood and trusted around the world.

Vaisala  is a global leader in measurement instruments and intelligence helping industries, nations, people, and the planet to thrive. From predicting hurricanes to optimizing renewable energy production, our technology is used where it matters the most – from data centers, windfarms and laboratories to airports, the Arctic, and even the surface of Mars. Our team of over 2,500 experts and 60 nationalities around the world is committed to taking every measure for the planet. Driven by our shared purpose, curiosity, and pioneering spirit, we stay ahead and make a difference. At Vaisala, you don't have to fit in to belong.

You will shape Vaisala's brand, reputation and engagement globally. Leading a team of brand and communications professionals, you will make sure our purpose, strategy and brand come through clearly and consistently across every internal and external channel, from stock exchange releases and media to employer branding and customer-facing brand experience.

Your role will be to:

  • Build and lead Vaisala's integrated brand and communications strategy, ensuring our brand and narrative support the company's long-term business direction and strengthen reputation, engagement and commercial impact.

  • Own the company brand strategy end to end: positioning, brand architecture, guidelines and their consistent implementation across marketing, design, customer experience and HR.

  • Lead and develop the brand and communications team, setting priorities, building capabilities and ensuring quality and impact across activities and channels.

  • Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO and Leadership Team, equipping leaders with key messages and materials to build alignment, thought leadership and trust.

  • Own corporate, internal and change communications for key strategic initiatives, and take ownership of Vaisala's crisis and issues communications.

  • Oversee media relations and corporate disclosures in close cooperation with Investor Relations and Legal.

  • Build an internal brand network of key stakeholders, and coach the organization on brand and communications topics.

  • Own agency and partner selection and management, and define Vaisala's global sponsorship and community outreach approach.

  • Set measurable targets for brand and reputation and report on results, managing the function's budget.

What you'll bring

  • Substantial senior experience in both brand and communications, including strategic brand building, media relations, thought leadership, change and crisis communications, and employee engagement.

  • A track record of leading and developing teams, and of steering complex, cross-functional work through to measurable results.

  • Experience in a listed or international B2B technology company, including working with disclosure requirements and executive leadership.

  • Strong strategic and business acumen, paired with hands-on drive and excellent project management skills.

  • The ability to coach, inspire and influence across the organization, and to challenge us with fresh ideas and insights.

  • Energy, curiosity and resilience to deliver impact in a dynamic, high-visibility environment.

  • Fluency in both Finnish and English, for leading communications and stakeholder engagement globally and locally in Finland.

What we offer

This is a unique opportunity to lead the brand and reputation of a global technology company with a purpose that matters, working with products used in over 150 countries. You will have a broad mandate, direct access to senior leadership, and the trust to shape how the function works. Our culture combines freedom with accountability, and we offer flexible hybrid work.
