Category Manager

What's your role?

You will be part of our high-performing and dynamic Direct Sourcing team consisting of 10 enthusiastic professionals and you will have over 50 sourcing professional colleagues. Together with the team, you will have an excellent opportunity to manage, develop and integrate Vaisala suppliers and supplier base in Direct Sourcing category area. You own the business relationships with the nominated suppliers and categories including price and contract negotiations. You are accountable for the performance and development of own suppliers. You will report to the Head of Direct Sourcing.

Your responsibilities include: 

· You own your category area(s) and supplier base including supplier development, supplier base optimization, supplier selections and supplier evaluation.

· Create and implement category strategy with cross functional approach and collaboration.

· Analyze supplier market and manage risks.

· Ensure availability and cost competitiveness of sourced materials in your area.

· Depending on your competencies you may support & take part of direct and sourcing team development activities.

What will you bring?

· A passion for sourcing, with the confidence and determination to take initiative and drive results.

· Experience in sourcing, with a strong execution-oriented attitude, a proactive mindset, and the courage to push through challenges—both within the organization and externally with suppliers at all levels.

· Knowledge and experience in subcontracting (EMS), electronics, and/or mechanical components, paired with the bravery to apply expertise in complex situations.

· Cross-functional leadership skills and a hands-on approach to problem-solving.

· Proficiency in supplier management and a solid understanding of supply chain processes.

· An analytical mindset with a strong grasp of business dynamics and total cost considerations.

· Fluent spoken and written English communication skills, Finnish language seen as a plus.
