(Senior) Software Engineer, Aviation Weather
We are looking for a (Senior) Software Engineer to join our growing team working with the aviation weather solutions at the Vaisala office at Vantaa with flexible hybrid-work possibilities.
Vaisala and our innovative measurement solutions impact where it truly matters, helping to solve climate change and other global challenges of our time. We are a global leader in weather and industrial measurements, and our technologies can be found in demanding environments from hospitals, national parks, and data centers to airports and wind farms all over the world – even on Mars!
You will be part of our community consisting of many hundred software developers. Together with a focused cross-functional team, you will have a chance to take our aviation weather solution AviMet to the next level.
WHAT IS AVIMET?
AviMet is scalable and highly configurable weather observing, monitoring, and reporting software and the foundation of Vaisala’s market-leading position in the global aviation weather business.
Pilots, air traffic controllers, forecasters, and observers need accurate weather information in real-time to ensure safe and efficient flight operations at airports. AviMet obtains data from sensors and remote sensing devices and provides information to all the stakeholders at an airport to support better decision-making and improved safety and efficiency.
YOUR ROLE IN THE TEAM?
You would be creating a high-quality, easy-to-maintain, next-generation weather solution. The team uses a rotating tester hat amongst developers to make space for focused system-level learning to build great quality. You also would be participating in planning future steps for our solution. We are currently working to create a major version update with a fresh tech stack including, e.g., React/Typescript, Python, and RabbitMQ. The architecture of the new version is based on APIs, microservices, and events. We value constant learning and maintaining great team spirit.
