DevOps Engineer

We are looking for an experienced and motivated DevOps Engineer to join our growing Architecture and Developer Experience team in Keilaniemi, Espoo. What will you do?

You will join the Vaisala Xweather team in our Espoo office which is home to more than one hundred brilliant minds. We are a diverse bunch, but we share the same excitement about making the world a better place with data and technology. You will report to Chief Software Architect.

As a member of our team, you will:

  • Design, implement, and manage AWS infrastructure using Terraform and CDK.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support rapid development and deployment.
  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to ensure reliable and scalable platform services.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and monitoring.
  • Implement security best practices and ensure compliance with internal and external standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and deployment issues.
  • Monitor system performance and availability and proactively address potential issues.
  • Ensure maintainable solutions by documentation, writing automated unit tests with code, and contributing to peer reviews within the team.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and infrastructure strategy.
  • Drive FinOps practices by monitoring cloud usage, optimizing resource allocation, and ensuring cost efficiency across AWS environments.

 

What will you bring:

  • 3+ years of experience in a Platform Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or similar role.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS services (e.g., EC2, ECS, Lambda, RDS, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, MSK).
  • Strong understanding of cloud architecture and deployment models.
  • Proficiency in Terraform and/or AWS CDK for infrastructure automation.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Bitbucket or similar.
  • Solid understanding of networking, security, and cloud architecture principles.
  • Knowledge of serverless and event-driven architectures.
  • Experience with Linux operating systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new tools and environments.

 

Skills that are considered a plus: 

  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or TypeScript.
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). Experience with managed Kubernetes (e.g. EKS) is a plus.
  • Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog).
  • Knowledge with device management and telemetry in IoT ecosystems and protocols such as LwM2M and MQTT.
