Territory Service Engineer-Pennsylvania

The business area serves selected weather-dependent customers to whom accurate, real-time, uninterrupted, and reliable weather data is essential to run efficient operations.



Position Description:
We are currently searching for a Territory Service Engineer working in Pennsylvania and providing support to customers in the surrounding areas.  This person will manage all service delivery requirements within the designated territory in the Weather and Environment business area.  The Territory Service Engineer will analyze the customer requirements, install base within designated territory, decide, and execute action plans to provide the highest levels of customer satisfaction.  



No relocation assistance is available for this position.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Interpret customer requirements, and build, select and manage a subcontractor network within territory, which meets customer requirements.
    • Provide guidance during Sales process to decide and execute delivery plan for service activities for Weather Systems in the designated territory, including:
    • Site Surveys
    • Installations with subcontractors and in support of Vaisala owned stations
    • Customer Trainings
    • Site Acceptance Tests
    • Subcontractor partnership management within territory, including training and technical support to subcontractors.
    • Traveling on-site to support partners as needed
  • Provide expert consultation on customers’ weather systems
  • Recommend upgrades and service plans for outside sales to drive profitable growth within territory.
  • Provide advanced trouble-shooting and technical support for service partners and end customers assisting frontline and second line technical support specialists.
  • Customer training and product demonstrations as needed.
  • Ability to travel up to 65% of the time.


We are looking for someone who has:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Meteorology, or related field and at least 3-5 years of experience
  • Combination of advanced Technical certifications and equivalent experience, or other equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to work independently with a focused direction while adding value and contributing to overall team performance.
  • Understanding of the necessity for communicating and exercising judgement when collaborating with other employees and organizations inside and outside of Vaisala (i.e. service partners).  
  • Demonstrated ability to interact professionally and work effectively with other employees, customers and suppliers.
  • Proven customer relationship management skills
  • Professional documentation skills 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent Oral and written English language skills
  • Advanced knowledge of electronics, mechanics, telecommunications, computer networking and/or RF technology, environmental or climatological disciplines
  • Science-based application knowledge for Weather business area (e.g., Road/Runway Weather Information Systems, Weather Radars, Thunderstorm/Lightning, etc.)
