Territory Service Engineer

The business area serves selected weather-dependent customers to whom accurate, real-time, uninterrupted, and reliable weather data is essential to run efficient operations.

Position Description:
We are currently searching for a talented and motivated Territory Service Engineer to join our transportation weather business team. This role works closely with territory account managers as well as Vaisala’s customer base. Fieldwork consisting of commissioning, contractor supervision, and customer training for RWIS systems; installation and configuration of other Vaisala systems and sensors as needed. The position covers the Midwest including Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Missouri. and Michigan. This role requires a background that encompasses electrical instrumentation, computer networking and customer service. Vaisala territory service engineers travel extensively to customer sites, therefore, this role must live within the assigned geographical territory with close proximity to a major international airport. An ideal canditate would be located around the Des Moines IA area. 

 

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Build strong relationships with customers and work with them directly
  • Build strong relationships with contractors 
  • Work closely with Territory Account Managers to support the business
  • Commissioning of Vaisala RWIS sensors and systems
  • Maintaining and tracking an inventory of parts and equipment needed to perform assigned duties
  • Able to adhere to Vaisala, MUTCD, and OSHA safety standards
  • Able ensure contractors are adhering to Vaisala and OSHA safety standards
  • Prepared to travel internationally in support of our products 
  • Travel will be up to60% of workload
  • Ability to create and implement new ideas
  • Ability to work with minimal instruction
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. multiple times a day in variety of outdoor climatic conditions

 

Qualifications:

  • Technical Associates Degree or equivalent military/technical school
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in field service work and technical troubleshooting.
  • Strong time management
  • Organizational skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Customer focused
  • Independent and self-motivated
  • Strong communication skills with technical competence
  • Fluent spoken and written English required.
  • Electronic repair and troubleshooting
  • Previous experience with systems installation, computer networking and technical support preferred

ANTICIPATED SALARY RANGE: $70,000-80,000 annually. (Salary is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, location, internal equity, and alignment with market data).  Additionally, we offer our employees a competitive benefits package which is outlined below.
