We are currently searching for a Senior Accountant to join our US Finance team in Louisville (Boulder), Colorado. This individual’s main focus will include the following: General Ledger monthly financial closing tasks, assisting with government audits or notices, corporate compliance submissions, tax support, and annual business registrations.

What's your role?
General accounting duties:
- Responsible for the completion of key functions as part of the month end closing process, including the preparation and input of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations and account analysis.
- Maintain submissions required for annual registrations keeping Vaisala legally compliant with government jurisdictions. This includes business licenses and other state or federal required submissions.
- Assist with data preparation for US or Canada government or other agency audits as appropriate
- Complete various government census surveys
- Support general ledger audit requests
Tax accountant duties:
- Support corporate entity requests for audit information, tax requirements, and financial specifications.
- Assist with corporate tax submissions for year-end provisions, extension filings, and final returns.
- Support corporate tax, property tax, and business license review and payments
- Assist with direct tax compliance for US/Canada including sales and use tax, gross receipts tax, and 1099 annual filings.
- Analyze and respond to inquiries from governmental jurisdictions to resolve corporate tax submission discrepancies.
Other Financial duties:
- Interface and support requests from internal employees in various business areas including Sales, AR/customers, AP/suppliers, Tax, HR and Legal.
- Ad hoc analysis as required
- Backup support for processing employee expense reports
- Backup support for Indirect Tax Accounting
We are looking for someone who has:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business, and 3-5 years of General Accounting experience
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated experience with Finance, Accounting, General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, and Accounts Payable processes.
- Experience with SAP, S/4HANA, Vertex, Stripe, or similar enterprise system
- Excellent Balance Sheet reconciliation skills and experience.
- Ability to analyze financial data and prepare journal entries and reconciliations.
- Expert Microsoft® Excel skills required
- Self-starting individual who is eager to learn and curious.
- Excellent organizational skills and must be detail and process oriented.
- Navigate and prioritize tasks in dynamic environment with continuous deadlines.
- Experience with US taxes, compliance requirements and audits preferred.
ANTICIPATED SALARY RANGE: $85,000-95,000 annually. (Salary is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data).
