The business area serves selected weather-dependent customers to whom accurate, real-time, uninterrupted, and reliable weather data is essential to run efficient operations.

 

Position Description:
We are currently searching for a Sales Manager to join our Roads, North America team.  The purpose of the role is to drive revenue growth by selling Vaisala products and services, proactively seeking new business potential, developing and maintaining existing customer relations and negotiating and closing deals.  The position has responsibility for transportation customers including roads, airports, rail within the assigned territory. Position requires 50-75% travel.  
 


The successful candidate for this role will be vaccinated against COVID-19, pursuant to Executive Order 14042.
 
 
Your key responsibilities include:

  • Develop sufficient knowledge of Vaisala products and services for your role. Remain current on products & services. Acquire and maintain basic industry & market knowledge and related applications.
  • Promote Vaisala offering by visiting existing and potential new customers, participating in exhibitions/fairs and organizing customer seminars, etc. to generate sales.
  • Seek new customers and leads (prospecting), conduct sales negotiations, convert into sales opportunities and close the deal successfully.
  • Prepare quotations and proposals in accordance with Vaisala sales process.
  • Ensure profitable sales. 
  • Participate in budgeting and action planning, by forecasting the territory sales performance and developing the territory sales funnel.
  • Utilize SalesForce.com to manage activities, contacts, contracts, and opportunities in accordance with existing rules and practices.
  • Manage new and existing customer accounts.
  • Act as a local expert in protocol, legislation, market, competition, price levels, culture, business practices, etc. 
  • Disseminate customer knowledge, needs, requirements and feedback to relevant internal interest groups.

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field. MBA is desirable but not required.
  • 3-5 years previous technical or sales experience with a consistent track record of achieving sales quotas.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Familiarity with government trade practices, contractual issues, financing instruments, etc.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills. 
  • Fluent in English language a must. 
  • Self-motivated, flexible and well-organized team player with a positive attitude towards customer service. 
  • Passion to win and persistence to complete even the most cumbersome cases.
  • Excellent time management and multi-tasking abilities. 
  • Willingness and ability to grow competences by learning relevant industry standards as well as market specific issues (culture, customers, competitors).
  • Willingness and ability to grow competences by deepening knowledge of Vaisala offerings (products, systems, services) as well as commercial and legal competences.

ANTICIPATED SALARY RANGE: $90,000-100,000 annually. (Salary is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data). In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for our Sales Bonus plan. We also offer our employees a competitive benefits package, which is outlined below.
