What's your role?
You will be part of our North American Service Team. The Field Service Technician is responsible for managing successful delivery of the Vaisala products and services within the assigned projects or service contracts in the Weather business area. This role will be responsible for having basic competency in one product line and is responsible for analyzing the customer requirements and installing base within assigned projects or contracts and decide, trouble-shoot and execute action plan to provide highest levels of customer satisfaction and profitability, within the Vaisala Sales Delivery Process. This role requires a current U.S. Passport and willingness to travel domestically and internationally, up to 75% annually.
- Perform basic technical service activities, including preventive and scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, testing, programming, exchanging parts, and basic installation and repair, independently and with direction from supervisor(s) when necessary.
- Assist colleagues and supervisor(s) with more advanced technical service activities.
- Manage successful delivery of products and services within the assigned projects or service contracts.
- Analyze customer requirements and install base within assigned projects or contracts and perform or recommend repair, replacement, or other corrective action to provide highest levels of customer satisfaction and profitability.
- Provide effective end user support and issue resolution and manage escalated customer tickets in a timely and effective manner.
- Interact with customers on site and by phone or videoconference, including providing training, planning, and scheduling work.
- Implement approved system modifications, programs, and other such requests, including engineering change orders and software upgrades according to specifications.
- Prepare activity reports (site visit reports, service advisory reports for customers) on delivery projects and service contract activities, and other formal documentation such as configuration documentation, test documentation and certification, internal and external training documentation, and support documentation.

- Strong aptitude for learning technical concepts and tools.
- Willingness to learn or knowledge of science-based applications for business area (e.g., Road/Runway Weather Information Systems, Renewable Energy (Wind, Solar), Weather Radars, Upper Atmosphere (Soundings), and Thunderstorm/Lightning.
ANTICIPATED SALARY RANGE: $68,000-$79,000 annually. (Salary is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data). Additionally, we offer our employees a competitive benefits package which is outlined below.
