Tax Accountant

Position Description:
We are currently searching for a Tax Accountant in our Louisville (Boulder), Colorado office.  This is a 2-year position.  This person supports indirect tax submissions for government entities including the United States and Canada.  Other responsibilities include the following tasks: support of General Ledger monthly closing cycle, Balance Sheet reconciliations and responding to both internal and external tax requests.

 

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Provide guidance in all sales and use tax calculations supporting customer invoicing as well as supplier payments for US at state/local levels. 
  • Ensure indirect tax compliance for US/Canada including sales and use tax, gross receipts tax, and 1099 annual filings.  
  • Maintain submissions required for annual filings keeping Vaisala legally compliant for multiple government jurisdictions. This includes business licenses and other state or federal required submissions.
  • Prepare monthly US data submissions to external tax preparer for indirect tax returns which includes detailed analysis and final approval. 
  • Interact with external customers in order to resolve tax discrepancies or requests.
  • Analyze and respond to all requests or inquiries from governmental jurisdictions in order to resolve indirect or direct tax compliance issues.
  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare monthly journal entries or adjustments to customer and supplier accounts.
  • Month-end closing tasks including BS reconciliations for US and Canadian General Ledger tax accounts
  • Backup support for processing employee expense reports
  • Interface with management in various business areas including Sales, AR/customers, AP/suppliers and Legal.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field and 3-5 years of US Indirect Tax Accounting experience
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong technical knowledge of US indirect tax specifications and compliance requirements.
  • US indirect tax audit experience and mitigation.
  • High competency to independently perform research and maintain accurate and ongoing compliance of indirect tax in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Knowledge of Finance, Accounting, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable processes. 
  • Knowledge of accounting software applications. 
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare journal entries and reconciliations. 
  • Expert Microsoft Excel skills required
  • Self-starting individual who is eager to learn and curious. 
  • Excellent organizational skills and be detail and process oriented.
  • Navigate and prioritize tasks in dynamic environment with continuous deadlines.
  • Desired: 
    • Experience with eBS Oracle
    • Experience filing indirect taxes for Canadian jurisdictions 
    • AR/AP Experience

ANTICIPATED SALARY RANGE: $72,000-78,000 annually. (Salary is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data).  Additionally, we offer our employees a competitive benefits package which is outlined below.
