We are seeking a motivated Field Installation Engineer in the Northeast Region to join our Industrial Measurements team and provide onsite installation and support for our viewLinc® continuous monitoring system product line.
In this role, you will work directly with pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, and other life science customers to install, configure, validate, and support critical environmental monitoring systems. You will combine hands-on expertise in instrumentation, computer networking, and metrology with strong customer-facing skills to help ensure systems are reliable, compliant, and operating effectively.
Vaisala is a market leader in environmental monitoring systems designed to meet the stringent requirements of FDA-regulated GxP customers. This remote, customer-facing role requires domestic and international travel, up to 75% annually. The successful candidate should reside within 1 hour driving distance from a major airport.
What’s your role?

Perform onsite installation, configuration, commissioning, upgrades, troubleshooting, and repair of viewLinc hardware and software.

Install and support data loggers, sensors, transmitters, gateways, industrial cellular routers, serial servers, and related networked devices.

Diagnose connectivity issues involving Ethernet, Wi-Fi, cellular networks, IP addressing, DHCP, DNS, NAT, firewalls, port forwarding, and VPNs.

Support customer validation activities, including IQ/OQ/PQ, and collaborate with Quality and Validation teams in GxP-regulated environments.

Deliver technical training on system operation, alarm management, reporting, and basic troubleshooting.

Maintain accurate service records, calibration documentation, site reports, and expense submissions.

Partner with Technical Support, Sales, and Customer Success teams to resolve complex customer issues and ensure a high-quality service experience.

Identify and communicate product-improvement opportunities based on customer and field experience.

Manage travel schedules, customer appointments, and daily workload independently.
What will you bring?
-
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical or mechanical engineering, or another technical field preferred; equivalent education and experience will be considered.

5–8 years of experience in a field engineer, field service, or technical support role.

Certified training in metrology, computer networking, or electronics.

Strong practical knowledge of TCP/IP networking, including device configuration, subnetting, DHCP, DNS, NAT, firewalls, and basic VPN troubleshooting.

Hands-on experience with industrial gateways, cellular routers, or comparable networked devices; experience with Digi platforms is strongly preferred.

Experience working in GxP-regulated environments, such as pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or healthcare.

Familiarity with FDA 21 CFR Part 11, EU GMP Annex 11, and IQ/OQ/PQ validation processes.

Knowledge of low-voltage analog signal wiring and basic circuit diagnostics.

Relevant OSHA safety certifications preferred.

Ability to work independently, travel extensively, and work in customer environments that may include elevations, enclosed spaces, or cold conditions.

Current U.S. passport and willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
ANTICIPATED SALARY RANGE: $85,000-95,000 annually with an annual performance bonus plan. Salary is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
