We are looking for an Application Sales Engineer to join our Liquid Measurements product line team at Vaisala Inc in our Burlington, Massachusetts office (we are open to remote). You will join a global Liquid Measurements business team whose focus is to provide refractometer solutions to the customers in various applications and industries worldwide.

What’s Your Role?
You will be a part of a global Liquid Measurements business team consisting of sales, application and product management professionals. Together with the team, you will be driving business growth for refractometer products in the NAM region, also at times supporting the EMEA region.
In this role, you will leverage your industry knowledge to serve as primary technical collaborator to address complex pre-sales questions and make recommendations for a diverse range of applications. You will report to Jutta Hakkarainen, Director, Liquid Measurements.
- Supporting sales managers in pre-sales questions and recommending refractometer solutions for a diverse range of applications.
- Providing advanced technical and application support to both internal and external stakeholders, driving business growth through expert guidance.
- Collaborating with sales managers on challenging quotations involving tailored solutions, new process mediums, and specialized services.
- Partnering with sales managers in delivering impactful training sessions for customers, external sales channels, and internal teams, demonstrating subject matter expertise.
- Attending and presenting at technical conferences, webinars, and industry events to gather market intelligence and represent Vaisala’s technical leadership.
- Advising on sales tools and processes, supporting the completion of transitions and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Partnering with marketing and product line team members to develop technical documentation and marketing resources, such as webinars and whitepapers.
- Actively gathering and analyzing customer feedback for continuous improvement of business operations, product development and sales strategies.
- Maintaining a customer-focused approach, advocating for customer requirements within cross-functional teams.
What will you bring?
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proven sales training and technical knowledge of process environments (safety, equipment, instrumentation, and controls). Understanding of refractometers and relevant applications is considered as an advantage.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software (Salesforce experience a plus).
- Excellent collaboration, communication, presentation, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong time management and organization skills, ability to prioritize tasks.
- Customer focus with the ability to communicate solutions to customers.
- Ability to learn market, product, and application knowledge and interpret technical documentation.

ANTICIPATED SALARY RANGE: $80,000-100,000 annually with our annual sales bonus plan. Salary is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
