The business area serves selected weather-dependent customers to whom accurate, real-time, uninterrupted, and reliable weather data is essential to run efficient operations.

Team Description: 
This position sits within Vaisala’s Weather and Environment business area’s Emerging Business Unit or EBU. In many ways, EBU operates as a startup within Vaisala with integrated cross-functional growth hacking product teams designed to deliver customer value. Position Description:
We are currently searching for a forward-thinking sales professional to join us to sell our innovative subscription services that leverage our observation, forecasting, and analytics capabilities. The purpose of the role is to create and close new subscription opportunities within municipal government, logistics, property management, mining, and utilities markets, with the freedom to pursue opportunities beyond these markets.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Promote Vaisala’s offering by prospecting for new customers following up on leads from try before you buy and freemium software programs, leading customer facing meetings both virtually and in-person and opportunities with prospects not currently doing business with Vaisala. 
  • Generate new subscription opportunities. 
  • Meet sales targets by proactively seeking new business, identifying new market potential, and negotiating and closing deals.
  • Uncover customer needs and demonstrate the value of Vaisala’s products.
  • Prepare quotations.
  • Drive growth within the assigned territory.
  • Utilize SalesForce.com to manage activities, contacts, and opportunities in accordance with existing rules and practices.
  • Manage new customer opportunities.
  • Recruit and manage channel partners to sell Vaisala’s XaaS offering.
  • Disseminate customer knowledge, needs, requirements and feedback to relevant internal interest groups.
  • Position requires 25-50% travel, including participating in exhibitions and conferences to generate sales.

 
 
We are looking for someone who has:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field and 4-7 years of  previous technical sales experience within an as-a-service business model.  Or equivalent combination of education and experience . 
  • A hunter mentality with a desire to close new business.
  • A consistent track record of success including closing sales over the telephone.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Familiarity with an SDR based sales model.
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and well-organized team player with a positive attitude towards customer service.
  • Passion to win.
  • Excellent time management and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Willingness and ability to grow competences by learning relevant industry standards as well as market specific issues (culture, customers, competitors).
  • Knowledge of modern selling techniques with an emphasis on why prospects should change how they currently operate to achieve their desired result.

ANTICIPATED SALARY RANGE: $90,000-100,000(annual salary range). (Salary is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data). In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for our Sales Bonus plan. We also offer our employees a competitive benefits package, which is outlined below.
